The Tri-Cities is extremely lucky to have the support of three fire departments, each of whom also has its own charitable organization run by the firefighters themselves. A profession known for being first on the scene and running into burning homes and buildings is also continually bringing awareness to essential community issues. Their ongoing fundraising is helping with breakfast and snack programs, the burn fund, hospital equipment funding and so much more.
Since the 1970s, Coquitlam Firefighters Charitable Society has supported many local organizations including BC Professional Firefighters Burn Fund, Eagle Ridge Hospital Foundation (ERHF), Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation and many more. They have also created a Nutritional Breakfast and Snack program to help relieve poverty in school-aged children by providing meals and snacks in elementary schools.
Port Coquitlam Professional Firefighters Charitable Society was established in 2019 when they co-hosted a gala with Coquitlam. Their main initiative was to start a healthy breakfast program for Port Coquitlam elementary school children, ensuring they have access to healthy breakfast foods. They also support Movember, Muscular Dystrophy Canada and more.
Port Moody Firefighters Charitable Society was officially incorporated under the Society Act in 2013 but has been doing charitable work for over 40 years. Recently, through the ERHF, they donated $150,000 for the new trauma room at Eagle Ridge Hospital. They are active partners and sponsors with ERHF’s annual golf tournament and Crossroads Hospice virtual gala, “I’ll Be Home For Christmas”. They too have a long list of those they support including Tri-City Transitions Society, Soroptimist Tri-Cities BC, Volunteer Cancer Drivers, SHARE Society, Mossom Creek and Noons Creek Hatcheries and more.
Not everyone is cut out for the type of work that firefighters do but these individuals go above and beyond every single day, both on and off the job. And that is just one of the reasons, we at Sharon Perry & Associates, sponsor and support as often as we can with our local firefighter's charitable societies. From gala sponsorships to pancake breakfasts to providing auction items and/or contributing to 50/50.
We have donated over $75,000 (as of August 2021) and hope you will join in our continued efforts of supporting our TriCities Firefighters Charitable Societies in their future endeavors.
These individuals are nothing short of being hero’s and we couldn’t be prouder to build ongoing relationships when the opportunity presents itself.
