I have been working in accounting and tax since 2000, opening my own firm in 2011.

From the moment I started on my business diploma at Douglas College I knew I wanted to start my own small business. Growing up in an entrepreneurial family, I was exposed to the inner workings of business operations from a very young age. I was able to see the complexity and pride that came with building a business. It was not until I started working for a public practice firm, as an Administrative Assistant, that I realized accounting and tax was my passion and would be the small business I would eventually start. Lessening the tax burden for personal and small business clients across so many industries has been so rewarding – I have never looked back.

In an industry where the standards, rules, and regulations are constantly changing, I pride myself in the fact that I advance my industry knowledge and maintain the obligations of my professional standards by participating in various development courses throughout the year, often doubling the minimum requirements of my profession. As my business grew, and I grew as a business owner, Growing With You evolved to be a guiding principle for my approach with clients. In addition to offering accounting and tax services for both personal and corporate clients, my goal is to empower my clients through education. I provide the necessary tools and customizable programs to suit the individual needs of each client and actively update my blog and social media to keep clients aware of current accounting, tax and small business changes.

Sharon Perry I was born and raised in BC and am so grateful to call this province home, for my family and my business. I have been with my husband Jason since 2000 and he has been supporting me throughout my entire CA (now CPA) journey, from the start of my finance education to opening my own business. We have three amazing children, Amelia, Marcus and Kendra, all of whom are active in sports and are all doing well in school, even while holding down part time jobs. My daughters have administrative roles in my business and my son works at a locally owned grocery store.

Following the path cut by my mentor, my father, giving back to the community has been a constant in my life, since childhood. A large part of who I am as a business owner has been shaped by my need to participate and share with my community through donations, both in kind and monetary, as well as sponsorships. It is so fulfilling to have had the opportunity to share with so many types of organizations including scholarships, arts, sports, healthcare, and not-for-profits, to name a few. The feelings of pride in my ability to share this way, and joy it brings me, makes giving back so easy. I know my philanthropic side will continue to grow well beyond my retirement.

I strive to be an inspiring role model to my children. It is important to me to show, through my own actions, how hard work and perseverance can pay off and teach them the important life lessons as they start creating their own paths in life…our oldest, Amelia, is a year out from university and while I am so excited to watch her go out and conquer the world, a part of me wants time to stand still.

Balancing a business and family life is not always easy, but it is something that is truly important to me and I always make time for what’s important. My children are at ages where I have to fit in all the family time I can before they are off to college and their future busy lives. We spend our summers at the lake and take family vacations whenever we can. Not only have we been to Disney World, but we’ve even taken a tour of the Maritimes – both, were beautiful and fantastic places to spend time with family.

I am Sharon Perry, Chartered Professional Accountant, Small Business Specialist, Community Driven Philanthropist, Business Leader, Breast Cancer Survivor, Mother of Three, Wife and Growth Advocate.
